Welcome beginnner knitter! So you’ve finally reached the end of your project. You’re thrilled but scared – how do you get the darn thing bound off? Well, you’re in the right place to learn how to cast off. If you’re knitting until you run out of yarn, make sure you have enough yarn left to bind off – about 3 times the width of the stitches you are binding off. (I like plenty of yarn cushion.) This technique is the easiest for casting off in my opinion and is called a basic knit cast off. Remember to keep it loose! If you knit tight stitches, as you probably will as a beginner, consider switching to a larger knitting needle for your cast off stitches to keep your stitches looser.
