I grew up watching Nick at Night, spending a lot of time in front of the television while my mom brushed my incredibly long, usually wet, mess of hair. I loved watching The Dick Van Dyke Show and The Mary Tyler Moore show. Mary was so funny, and I loved having a brunette lady to watch on TV. (Our standards were different then – we did not look for Latinas on TV. Mom and I were pretty happy if the lead was a brunette. Now I want America Ferrera to star in every sitcom.)
I could also probably watch the intro to The Mary Tyler Moore Show on repeat for hours and still enjoy it. I especially appreciate the lady glaring at her when she throws her hat, like she’s a crazy person in the middle of the street.
While watching the intro nostalgically several times yesterday, I realized, damn, that hat is still cute and totally easy to make. Tams are way cuter than I ever gave them credit for!
And lo and behold look what pattern I found on Ravelry:
Have fun making your own and remember to toss it in the air with gusto, even if there is a lady glaring at you for being in the middle of the street!
