As you may know, organ donation is a very important and personal issue to me – it’s the reason my husband is alive today.

His lung transplant, and somebody else’s family deciding to donate a loved one’s organs, are the reason I get to have a (mostly) healthy husband. That’s still something that’s pretty amazing to me and something that I’m eternally grateful for.

If you’re into audio, you can listen to the Modern Love podcast where Chris Messina (!) reads Eirik’s essay, followed by a short interview with both of us.

If you’d like to learn how knitting got me through that crazy time waiting for his transplant, you can read my interview here.

If you want to know how we could possibly afford all of this amazing healthcare, we have the Children’s Organ Transplant Association and many amazing financial donors to thank.
